Period Seven
Teaching target
1. Review the direct speech and indirect
speech and explain the Exx. about it.
2. Have a listening practice.
3. Finish speaking part--- A Talk time.
Teaching courses:
1. Revision
Explain the Exx. about the the direct speech and indirect speech. In doing this exercise, the teacher can prepare some exercises about it. Ask the Ss to do it after class. Then explain it in class. If you do it like this, you can save a lot of time.
2. Listening practice--- Listening for information
a. Ask Ss to read the demands carefully before they have the listening practice.
b. This section presents three dialogues between family members. Ss must listen carefully, try to understand the situation, and then select the right answer from the four options given.
c. Play the recording at least twice. Ask Ss to listen carefully and finish this task.
3. Speaking--- A Talk time
Giving yourself time to think
a. Explain to the students that they can use some of the sub-lexical sounds and noises common in English. Although they add nothing to the meaning, help keep a conversation flowing smoothly.
b. Ask students to listen to the tape about the conversation in Exx A1. Then read after the tape until they can recite it. At last, they can practice it in pairs.
c. Ask the students to finish answering the following questions.
1) What suggestion does Tony make?
2) Tony uses three expressions to give himself time to think. What are they?
3) Doris stringly disagrees with one of Tony’s remarks. What words does she use?
4) Why does Tony not want to help Doris?
5) I’ll be right over means_________.
a. I don’t care
b. I’m coming to see you immediately
c. I don’t believe you
4. Conclusion
5. Assignments:
a. Finish exercises about Listening and
speaking. (Workbook Page82- 83)
b. Review the reading passage.

Period Eight
Teaching target
a. Explain the Exx. about Listening and
speaking in Workbook.
b. Speaking ----B Speak up
c. Writing ---- Writing a newspaper article
Teaching courses:

2 Speak up
The task is to calculate an average figure to show the amount of pocket money a student needs these days.
a. Appoint a group leader and secretary. The
secretary should note down each person’s figures, and calculate the averages by adding the figures and dividing by number of people. The averages for each category can then be totalled.
b. Using the results of their discussion and the outline in Exx B2, the group leader should report their findings to the class.
3 Writing--- A family charter
a. Ask Ss to read the instructions to the class or let students read them on their own.
b. Do a brainstorming session with the class.
c. Encourage creative Do’s and Don’ts. For example:
Do’s
Buy your child as many storybooks as he or she wants.
d. Possible answers
Category Do’s/Don’ts for teenagers Do’s/Don’ts for parents
Food Eat regularly

Don’t eat fast food. Let your child eat what he or she wants.
Don’t force your child to eat anything they don’t like.
Computers
(and games) Use the computer for homework.
Don’t too many computer games. Buy computer games for your child. Don’t ask your child not to play computer games.
Going out Go out with friends to relax.

Don’t go out at night. Let your child go where he or she wants.
Don’t ask
Where he or she is all the time.
Bedrooms Keep your bedroom tidy.

Don’t eat in bed. Help your child clean his or her bedroom.
Don’t go into his or her bedroom when he or she is not at home.
